Connecting Singapore Runners to Global Racing Stages
Founded in 2021, Zephyr Running Club has established itself as one of Singapore's fastest-growing running communities, bringing together over 500 members united by a shared passion for endurance sports, structured training, and international racing experiences.
In recent years, the club has expanded its focus beyond local running initiatives to develop a structured overseas marathon programme. Through this initiative, Zephyr has led groups of Singapore-based runners to participate in major races across Asia and Europe — including the Wuxi and Chongqing marathons in China, the Tokyo Marathon, Shanghai Marathon, Beijing Marathon, and the Valencia Marathon in Spain, widely regarded as one of the fastest marathon courses in the world.

The Wuxi Marathon — A Club Cornerstone
Among these destinations, the Wuxi Marathon has emerged as a cornerstone event for the club. The 2026 edition marks Zephyr's third consecutive year of organised participation — a testament to the race's appeal and the club's deepening commitment to the spring marathon season in East Asia.
To support runners across varying performance goals, Zephyr introduced a 16-week East Asia marathon training programme, designed to prepare participants for a competitive spring race season spanning Wuxi, Tokyo, and Seoul. Following the announcement of the Wuxi Marathon ballot results, more than 60 Zephyr runners secured entries and entered the final phase of their race preparation.

Accessibility and Community Pathways
Accessibility is a key pillar of the club's overseas marathon programme. Recognising the highly competitive nature of ballot-based entry systems and the increasing global demand for major marathons, Zephyr actively works with partners to secure a limited number of charity and community entries for its members.
These entries provide additional pathways for participation, particularly for runners who may not gain access through standard channels. At the same time, they introduce a philanthropic dimension to the club's activities — encouraging runners to contribute to charitable causes and community initiatives as part of their racing journey.
Cultural Exchange Beyond the Race Course
Beyond performance and podiums, Zephyr positions its overseas marathon initiatives as a broader platform for community building and cultural exchange. Each overseas trip is curated to give runners opportunities to engage with local communities, explore the cultural context of each destination, and connect with runners from different backgrounds.
Activities such as group shakeout runs, informal meet-ups, and race-week engagements foster meaningful cross-border connections. Through these initiatives, Zephyr serves as a bridge between Singapore's running community and the global running ecosystem.

Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, Zephyr Running Club aims to further expand its overseas marathon platform, with a continued focus on structured training, inclusive participation, and international engagement. By combining performance, accessibility, and cultural exchange, the club seeks to create a sustainable model that supports both individual growth and community development.
For Zephyr, marathons are not solely defined by finishing times or personal bests. They represent opportunities to connect people, cultures, and experiences — building a global running community that extends far beyond the race course.
